I think I must have been around 12 when I really started to get interested in volcanoes. This was after a family holiday to Tenerife and a visit to a volcano called Teide.
Then while I was at University (aged 19 – 22) I started to learn more and more about volcanoes and that was when I decided I wanted to study them on their own. I also went travelling for a year when I turned 18, and while I was in New Zealand I saw loads of cool volcano-y things – that certainly helped!
