• Question: What is the maximum temperature a volcano can reach. Also is a dormant volcano still hot.

      Hey bigbangtheory,

      The hottest lava that comes out of a volcano is about 1200 degrees celsius. So without being able to go down there and measure how hot it is myself, the volcano is probably slightly hotter than that.

      Most dormant volcanoes are still hot, yes. This is because the heat is stored in the rock for many years.
